Since most of what I own are contemporary outfits, they are mostly separates. I like to organise them by drawer, ie pants/shorts/skirts, long sleeve/shot sleeve/tank tops, sock/undies/tights, shoes, coats/ponchos/Girl Scout Uniforms, and then a misc. drawer for sports/dance/hats/etc. I have also been using the plastic three drawer type Ruberemaid things, and I thought one would work, but I ended up needing two, and it's still not enought to hold some of the larger item, and those that I don't want squished. If I had more room, and I might just have to make room, I think I am going to swicth it over to an actual four drawer wood dresser. I'll need some dividers, but I think that will give me the space I need {for now.} In a perfect world, I would love to have a wall with a long dresser that is just for AG, and then I could display them on top. I am just in too cramped a space right now.

For my historicals I keep all their outfits in a caddy. (One caddy each.) And all their accessories, shoes, hats, etc. are in their tunks.
For my AGT's I have a large, clear, three drawer thing on wheels that as some of their stuff in, and a huge drawer under my bed that has more outfits. All the AGT clothes are in plastic bags, and are labelled.
I also have a large shelving unit thing that I can store stuff like dolls , trunks, and furniture on.

We have huge canvass boxes with pictures of each doll on the side. The outfits and accessories are stored in Ziploc baggies with photos on them.

I use beautiful decorator hat boxes and shoe/storage boxes with metal handles. I found several gorgeous (they are covered in designer contact/wall paper and borders) matching ones in different sizes and colors at places like Burlington Coat Factory and Hobby Lobby. These are the perfect size and because they are made of wood/paper/metal products, they allow the clothing to "breathe" unlike plastic bins. Also, I add a couple of cedar balls to give the clothes that old fashioned "cedar hope chest" scent. You could use dried lavendar or sachets instead if you wanted. The plus side of this storage is that it is lovely and can be displayed in a room or stacked along side a bed without cluttering up or junkifying (is that a word, LOL?) a room. Plus if you ever decide to give the doll collection away or sell it, it is stored in a beautiful container.

Most of my AG items are in storage (including all the boxes) The empty boxes take up a lot of space. (Thinking about breaking them down later and storage flat.)
The doll clothes are in PC Trunks. Until I get A Elizabeth clothes press her clothes hang in Nellie's (don't have a Nellie yet) trunk. Josefina clothes hang in a extra Molly trunk I have. Really I wish they would made the steamer trunks for each doll. They really are a great way to store the items. The drawers are great to hold all the little items. I love Kristen's trunk, but I think the clothes get a bit wrinkled sitting in it. But Molly and Samantha's collection is so large you need two steamer trunks for each doll.
I want to make a book case that has areas that you can sit up the dolls and their items. I am working on that. Hope to have a doll room soon.
